10 years on: a wedding day to remember at The Granary Estates

It may have been a decade since Sophie and Mark celebrated their big day with us, but their memories of the day are still as vivid as ever. We caught up with them to reminisce and hear what made their day so special, and why The Granary Estates still holds a place in their hearts.

“It was 100% the day we wanted it to be”

When it came to choosing a venue, Sophie and Mark knew they wanted something personal and beautiful, a space they could truly make their own.

“The Granary stood out because we could customise everything – it felt completely ‘us’. The barns and grounds were absolutely stunning, with enough space for our guests to relax and enjoy the day without ever feeling spread out.”

Walking into calm confidence

Walking into the barns on the morning of their wedding, Sophie remembers the sense of calm more than anything else. “It felt calm, relaxed, beautiful. Everything was organised, and we felt at ease knowing it was all going to be perfect.”

This confidence in the day allowed them to be fully present, which, 10 years on, is something they don’t take for granted.

Laughter, food... and pancakes!

“Laughter and fun – we giggled through most of the ceremony!”

We asked what memory stood out the most, and the answer was that their day was filled with joy from start to finish, and the food was a big part of that!

“Simple Simon’s food was amazing – and the pancakes from Cambridge Creperie were a huge hit with our guests.”

Personal touches that still bring a smile

When asked about the special details they still talk about, there’s no shortage of memories.

“Too many to list! But we loved creating our own bespoke cocktail – it was served at the bar on the day and made it feel even more personal.”

They also stayed on site the night before and after, something they wholeheartedly recommend (and so do we!).

“It made the biggest difference – we just felt so relaxed and almost at home.”

10 years on: their advice to future couples

Looking back, Sophie and Mark have one key piece of advice for couples planning their own wedding:

“It’s all about the people – soak it all up with the people you love the most.”

And finally, what song takes them straight back to that unforgettable day?

“Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years. It was our first dance, and it still gives us goosebumps.”

“Just the best day with the best people”

It’s a simple statement, but it says everything you need to know about Sophie and Mark’s wedding at The Granary Estates. A joyful, relaxed day filled with love, laughter, and personal touches, exactly as it should be.
