5 minutes with… Business and Operations Manager Beth

We wanted to chat further to our Business and Operations Manager, Beth to find out more about her…

Beth is…

Tell us what songs are on your work playlist and why?

My playlist follows the natural rhythm of a wedding-filled workday. I kick things off with some upbeat 80s classics, nothing gets me in the zone quite like WhitneyWham! or a bit of Madonna to power through the morning admin and breakfast emails.

Midday calls for a boost, so it’s all about Disney magic and musical theatre; think WickedThe Greatest Showman, and yes, the occasional sing-along to Frozen (no shame).

Then when it’s time to focus double checking timelines and event orders I switch to soft acoustic wedding covers. The kind you'd hear as a bride walks down the aisle… calming, romantic, and just focused enough to keep me in the zone without daydreaming about confetti.

What has your journey to Business and Operations Manager looked like? and what do you love the most?

I didn’t follow the most traditional path into weddings, to start with my degree was in archaeology (yes, really!), followed by a Master’s in Events Management. I got my start on the festival circuit and working on student experience events, before moving on to manage Air Shows and large-scale public events.

From there, I became General Manager at a retail village, where I kept one foot firmly in the events world. And outside of work? You’d often find me running charity fundraisers, local markets, or pulling together family celebrations with military precision!

All of that eventually led me to the wedding industry, where I found my perfect mix of logistics and creativity.

What I love the most? Creating those once-in-a-lifetime moments and watching all the planning come together as couples live out their dream day.

Quote I swear by: “I love it when a plan comes together.” – The A-Team (which also happens to sum up the wedding day quite nicely!)

Who would your dream dinner guest be and why?

My dream dinner guest would be Dolly Parton. She’s a perfect mix of wit, warmth, and wisdom, someone who can make you laugh until your sides hurt and then inspire you with her generosity and kindness. Beyond being a musical icon, Dolly has devoted much of her life to philanthropy, championing education and helping communities thrive. I imagine the evening would be full of great stories, laughter, and maybe even a few surprise sing-alongs!

What is your favourite work memory?

Honestly, it’s hard to pick just one. What stays with me most are the emotions on a wedding day, the excitement, the nerves, the joy of knowing I’m playing even a small part in one of the most important days of someone’s life. We get so much lovely feedback from our couples, and that’s truly why I do what I do.

How about an embarrassing one?

One day, during a super-quick setup, Guy (our wonderful owner) and I were racing to get tables in place. As I was rolling one of the round tables, I spectacularly took a tumble, landing right on top of it, in full view of Guy. I tried to play it cool, but the CCTV footage still exists somewhere... and it’s not quite the graceful moment I imagined!
