Let the garden setting do the talking

The beauty of the courtyard garden is its timeless rustic features combined with carefully maintained floral beds and borders. Embrace its character with trailing foliage, potted plants or loose English country garden style meadow arrangements and soft linen draping. Simple, elegant touches that work in harmony with the surroundings.

Top tip: Frame the flint walls with asymmetric floral arrangements or a meadow style aisle to soften the edges and draw the eye toward your ceremony focal point.

Create a beautiful focal point

Whether it’s a floral arch, gentle draping, or modern plinths with statement arrangements, a styled backdrop adds drama and focus.

Consider layering texture; fabrics, florals and structural pieces to reflect your theme. Don’t be afraid to go bold with colour, or keep things tonal and textural for a more minimalist feel.

Think about your guests comfort

There are a few different things to think about when having an outdoor ceremony to ensure you and your guests comfort. We always recommend:

  • Planning for shade or individual parasols for summer ceremonies, especially during the middle part of the day.

  • Setting up a water station to keep guests hydrated pre-ceremony.

  • A PA system and microphone to ensure everyone can hear you.

  • An equally as perfect back-up plan should the British weather do it’s thing.

Consider the position of the sun

Our garden gets gorgeous natural light, especially for early afternoon ceremonies. Chat with your photographer about the best ceremony times for lighting that flatters everyone and enhances your photos.
